I met Dolores´s grandfather, Emil Johannsen, in the summer of 1956 at the 4808 45"´ St., the Becker home in Washington, D.C. after Agnes, his wife passed away. I took a liking to this fine gentleman, who reminded me so much of the Scandinavian heritage we shared. (My Mother´s parents emigrated from Sweden.) Emil was such a handsome and healthy looking man you would not have known he had terminal cancer. We were swimming in Glen Echo, MD. In June 1958 while sick in bed, I believe in Ben´s house, we held bands and he told Dolores and I that we were "the future," a wonderful blessing. |
